Just a while back we reviewed the Acer Liquid A1 and we thought that it was a very good smart phone that could however be improved upon. Well lo and behold, Acer at the currently in progress Mobile World Conference (MWC) being held in Barcelona, Spain introduced an updated version of the Acer Liquid A1 named the Acer Liquid e. Keep reading to find out if you should wait it out to buy the Acer Liquid e or might as well get the Liquid A1.

Most of the technical specifications for the Acer Liquid e smart phone are the same as its predecessor although it features an under-clocked Qualcomm Snapdragon processor at 768 MHz (quite possibly so to extend battery life). The largest and most significant improvement in the Acer Liquid e cellphone is quite obviously the use of the Android operating system’s latest stable release, version 2.1 (codenamed Eclair).

Other than that, for those of you who might have doubts, the Acer Liquid e mobile phone features a 3.5″ capacitive WVGA display, quad band GSM and tri band UMTS for 3G capability, a 5 Mega Pixel camera with auto-focus, an accelerometer for motion sensing, a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), Bluetooth and GPS support.

The main changes we expect to see when the Acer Liquid e smart phone hits the market are with regards to the Acer UI and performance, mainly due to the use of Android 2.1. This is mainly because devices using the latest version of the Android OS have shown significant improvement in performance over devices using older versions.

Thus even with an under-clocked Snapdragon processor we expect no lag or jerks or halts in navigating through the phone and using the apps on the Acer Liquid e.

To conclude, we are fairly sure that Acer will provide updates for the Acer Liquid A1 and therefore it will pretty much be an Acer Liquid e but we feel that being pre-loaded with the latest version of the Android OS might make the difference if indeed there will be any between the Acer Liquid e and the Acer Liquid A1.
