32 GB microSDHC available from SanDisk and misc phone news

SanDisk was the company that originally made microSD although back then they called it TransFlash or T-Flash, they are however still pioneers and often considered industry leaders in this field. Starting today, SanDisk has started shipping 32 GB microSDHC cards. In other news a new image sensor technology seems likely to allow cellphones to take almost digital camera like quality photos. Also, Samsung set a Guinness world record for fastest texting in a commercial using the Swype application.

In a commercial, a Samsung mobile phone running Swype was used to set a new Guinness world record for the fastest texting in a record time of 35.54 seconds. This feat shaves off nearly five seconds from the previous record and is done by typing a standard sentence set by Guinness. However considering this is an advertisement, we are not entirely sure if the record set by Samsung is genuine.

A new image sensing technology from InVisage that utilizes a material they call QuantumFilm looks set to improve the quality of cameras on cellphone. According to InVisage, silicon based image sensing technology has run its course and now a different kind of material is needed and according to them it is QuantumFilm.
QuantumFilm is a quantum dot material that replaces silicon in cameras and thereby enabling at least double the performance of current cameras with as much as two times the light detection and two times better quantum efficiency. In any case, this technology at least is not far from hitting the markets as InVisage predicts a Q4 2010 release of the first products to utilize the QuantumFilm technology.
SanDisk too is raising the bar as it has started shipping 32 GB microSDHC cards from today. The SanDisk 32 GB microSDHC cards are set to be available for a MSRP of $199.99 and mass production is now underway utilizing 32nm X3 technology which has 3 bits per cell and therefore allows such a large capacity on so small a card.
So if your mobile phone memory is clogged full of videos, pictures, music and whatnots then you might feel like dishing out two centuries to expand your cellphone’s memory with the new SanDisk 32 GB microSDHC card, that is of course if your phone is microSDHC capable and also capable of supporting 32 GB of expandable memory.
