Nokia E71 and E66 get free Ovi Maps, motion based apps in Ovi Store

Earlier this year, Nokia introduced voice guidance for their Nokia Ovi Maps application, but consequently, only the latest smart phones were able to support that functionality. Nokia has now made this functionality available for the Nokia E71 and E66 smart phones but with slightly limited functionality. Also, the Nokia Ovi Store is now graced with motion based apps, most of which at the moment are quite pointless in our opinion. More details and download links below.

Free walk and drive navigation is now available for Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 mobile phone users. These are the last two S60 3.1 and older devices which will receive this version of Ovi Maps and therefore the voice guidance functionality. Unfortunately however due to technical reasons, premium content like Guide Michelin and Lonely Planet guides will not be available for the Nokia E66 or Nokia E71 cellphones.

We have already covered the recent revamp of the Nokia Ovi Store, now however the Nokia Ovi Store receives a whole new genre of applications, motion based apps! With many new intriguing apps already available, we’re sure you will be able to kill at least a few hours, although in our opinion, none of them are really useful so far.
