Huawei is perhaps a company little known outside of China amongst consumers but it has already replaced Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Siemens to become the world’s 2nd largest mobile equipment manufacturer. Lumigon is a Danish company that has seemed to pop into existence out of nowhere seemingly and both Lumigon and Huawei have been active at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) at Barcelona, Spain this year where each debuted multiple Android based mobile phones.

Huawei seems to be ready to take the smart phone market by storm as it launched four new Android based cellphones at the MWC, The U8800, U8300, U8110 and U8100. Although details regarding the actual technical specifications for these devices are scarce at the moment, some features have been revealed. It seems the Huawei U8800 smart phone is set to be the first Android based cellphone to utilize HSPA+ which will essentially mean that where the networks support it, the Huawei U8800 mobile phone will be capable of download speeds of up to 14 Mb/s.

The Huawei U8800 cellphone is expected to be released sometime in the third quarter of 2010.

All four of the Huawei smart phones are set to be (from what we know so far) touch screen devices with only the U8300 to feature a physical QWERTY style keyboard. The screen sizes range from 3.8″ for the Huawei U8800 to 2.8″ QVGA for the U8110 mobile phone and U8100 cellphone. Color schemes for the Huawei U8300 smart-phone come in rather glaring yellow, green and violet. The U8110 and U8100 will both feature dual cameras with a 0.3 MP one in front and a 3.2 MP one at the back of the mobile phones.

Lumigon has released two smart phones that seem more like art than regular devices. The Lumigon cellphones which have been under development for over two years look the part certainly. The pictures released show two very sleek, very stylish and perhaps a tad conservative devices in black and white.

The Lumigon T1 mobile phone and the Lumigon S1 mobile phone are both slated for release sometime in Q2 2010. Both devices have capacitive touchscreens although the Lumigon S1 cellphone also features a sliding T9 keyboard. Other key features for the Lumigon smart phones are 720p output over HDMI, the use of Google Android 2.1 with Lumigon’s special P-GUI software implementation, Freescale i.MX515 processor, A-GPS support, FM receiver and transmitter which also means that the Lumigon cellphones are capable of functioning as universal remote controls.

Meanwhile, the Lumigon E1 has been kept under wraps for a bigger, more hyped future release as it was labeled as “the most beautiful phone I have ever seen during my entire 10 year career in mobile business” by the founder of Lumigon Corporation, Lars Gravesen.
