HTC Smart launched in India, available from Airtel

The HTC Smart is the world’s first phone use Qualcomm‘s mobile platform system Brew and is set to be available across major cities in India for the price of Rs. 9,990 which translates to about $222 or about 165 Euros. Not only is it the first phone to utilize the Brew mobile platform but it will feature the HTC Sense UI in one of the fastest growing cellphone markets of the world. The HTC Smart mobile phone available through Bharti Airtel should generate a lot of appeal as it packs a lot of great features (both in the hardware and software section), especially considering its price.

First off, the technical specifications for the HTC Smart cellphone has a 2.8″ TFT QVGA touchscreen with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, 3.15 MP camera with LED flash, accelerometer, Bluetooth, miniUSB, microSD for up to 16 GB of expandable memory, 300 MHz processor, 3.5 mm audio jack, quad band GSM and 3G access through HSPA.

On the software side of things, the HTC Smart phone runs on the Brew mobile platform developed by Qualcomm and features the HTC Sense UI for better and improved user experience. The HTC Smart mobile phone also features HTC Friend Stream which is a social networking aggregation application that combines latest updates from various social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and Flickr in an organized and easy to view manner.

The HTC Smart seems like it was made to fit in to the needs of a customer base that exists in a fast growing market, namely to have some of the latest features at an affordable price and so the HTC Smart features a touchscreen with an accelerometer and has 3G access besides all the regular features like Bluetooth, a microSD slot, FM radio and a camera.

On the other hand the HTC Smart cellphone lacks Wi-Fi, GPS, its screen is a touch small and its processor seems a tad too slow and likely may not support multi-tasking. But most of these are features often overlooked and least used but by the most tech savvy of users and so the HTC Smart mobile phone seems just right for a growing market.
