Motorola Twist Android phone preview

A new Motorola phone was leaked recently and although the original “leaker” asked that the post be removed, by then the news had spread like wildfire and posts like these have popped up all over the web. The new Android based phone is to be known as the Motorola Twist and although its leaked specifications do not look overly impressive but are still pretty high end as things go, it does have some interesting features and also is set to feature MOTOBLUR which will undoubtedly make many social networking happy people, well, happy.

The technical specifications or details of the Motorola Twist smart phone include a 2.8″ TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, a QWERTY keyboard, accelerometer, 3.5 mm audio jack, microSD for up to 32 GB expandable memory, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), Bluetooth, microUSB, 3 MP camera, 700 MHz Texas Instruments OMAP3410 processor, GPS with A-GPS support and quad band GSM with HSPA class 3G capability.

If that is not enough for you then you should know that the Motorola Twist mobile phone is set to run Android 2.1 (Eclair) and will probably feature multi-touch capability, multitasking and likely feature Flash support.

The Motorola Twist cellphone, as we mentioned earlier will feature MOTOBLUR which is essentially Motorola’s UI layer for Android and also features social networking integration with sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace.

The main advantage of MOTOBLUR is that it features live widgets and your Motorola Twist homescreen is continuously updated with, well, updates from your friends and contacts in the aforementioned social networking sites.

While the Motorola Twist mobile phone has no innovative feature, it has a nice QWERTY keyboard that looks to slide out and this will no doubt appeal to the many text-ing as well as social networking enthusiasts.

Although no pricing and availability information is known as of yet, we expect that the Motorola Twist smart phone is set for release very soon, quite likely Q3 of 2010.

With such a full list of features and also being the phone with the fastest processor in Motorola’s lineup, we expect that the Motorola Twist will very soon have a fanbase of its own despite its rather clunky shape and design.
