Nokia N8 smart phone made official

The Nokia N8 smart phone that was rumored then leaked and eventually even had a review of what we believe to be a pre-production prototype has now been officially announced by Nokia. The Nokia N8 is set to be the first device to use the new open source Symbian^3 operating system and will be eagerly awaited for. Symbian^3 has a lot to live up to and its competition grows stronger day by day so it will be interesting to see how well the Nokia N8 performs.

The technical specifications for the Nokia N8 include a 3.5″ widescreen nHD capacitive touchscreen, 16 GB mass memory and 135 MB internal memory, microSD slot for up to 32 GB of expandable memory, 256 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, FM radio and transmitter, 12 MP camera with Xenon flash and HD video capture capability, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 3.0, GPS with aGPS, microUSB, 3.5 mm audio jack, quad band GSM and quintuple band WCDMA (850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz).

The Nokia N8 cellphone will also have and HDMI out port and features Dolby Digital Plus Surround Sound. Other features for the Nokia N8 mobile phone include Web TV and social networking integration (Facebook, Twitter and RenRen).

Free Ovi Maps with premium services such as Lonely Planet and Via Michelin are also available out of the box on the Nokia N8.

The new Symbian^3 platform on the Nokia N8 also enables three fully customizable homescreens with easy access and access to Ovi Stores and Ovi Services. Also, according to Nokia the Nokia N8 should perform very well during multitasking with greater memory management.

The Nokia N8 also has multi-touch, pinch to zoom and support for other gestures to enable easier navigation and the new 2D and 3D graphics architecture makes sure to fully utilize the Nokia N8 cellphone‘s graphics acceleration.

All in all, despite pre-release response, we anticipate that the Nokia N8 will be a high selling device not only due to its own prowess but also due to the pulling power and brand image of Nokia.
