Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and mini pro mobile phones review

Sony Ericsson were also quite active at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) held at Barcelona, Spain and on the 14th of February showcased the Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro cellphones. Both of these cell phones are compact versions of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 smart phone. While not cutting edge or high end mobile phones, both of these devices created a lot of interest as they both look good and if the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is anything to judge by will also be very good performance wise.

Essentially, both the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro smart phones have the same features, the only difference between the two is that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro cellphone features a slide-out QWERTY style keyboard.

The more stand-out features with regards the technical specifications for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro are: a 2.55″ TFT touchscreen capable of displaying 16 million colors on a 240 x 320 resolution display, a 5 Mega Pixel camera with auto-focus and geo-tagging, FM radio, audio and video playback capability, a 600 MHz Qualcomm processor running Android OS version 1.6.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro cellphones also have A-GPS capability and support Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11 b/g). The microSD and microSDHC slot means that the Xperia X10 mini phones do support should be compatible with expandable memory of up to 32 GB but we think only 8 GB or at best 16 GB will be supported.

Both the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro phones have quad band GSM and dual band UMTS (900/2100 MHz) for HSPA class 3G access.

Both these phones, scheduled to be available in Q2 this year are mainly being promoted as social networking friendly and multimedia phones by Sony Ericsson. The Sony Ericsson Timescape application which will be available out of the box for these phones will enable users to see updates from Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites and also display missed calls, text messages, etc in one application.

Sony Ericsson has for the past many years come out with very high quality phones that are eminently usable but are often overshadowed by flashier or edgier phones from other companies. However we feel that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro smart phones will do very well in their own market segment.
