Vodafone 845 in the UK, Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 in Canada and LG KH5200 in South Korea, new Android phones

Rogers is launching the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 in Canada and the most important news with regards to this is that an Android 2.1 update is expected soon. Vodafone on the other hand is set to launch an Android based phone (which we speculate will be made by Huawei), the Vodafone 845 that should be highly affordable and not lacking in features. Last but not least, LG is set to launch the LG KH5200 in South Korea, an Android based phone also known as the Andro-1 and is set to be the first in the Korean market.

So first to North America and specifically Canada where the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 smart phone is set to be launched by Rogers. The Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 has a 3.2 MP camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G, has a powerful processor with multi-processing (allows multiple programs to run at the same time in Android) and has a touchscreen.

Now if that does not please you, we can understand, but we do know that the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 is set to receive an update (according to BoyGeniusReport that will see it running Android 2.1 sometime soon and you can buy it at the Rogers website by clicking here.

Vodafone on the other hand is going for economy and are set to launch a cellphone that is so far known as the Vodafone 845 though it will likely be renamed by then. This Android based Vodafone 845 mobile phone for which we think Huawei will be the ODM and quite possibly the OEM as well will cost about 150 Euros.

The technical specifications for the Vodafone 845 cellphone are as follows: 2.8″ QVGA touchscreen, Wi-Fi, 3G (HSPA class), GPS, 512 MB of internal memory and a microSD slot as well as a 3.2 Mega Pixel Camera. The Vodafone 845 cellphone will also feature the Vodafone 360 service.

Lastly, in the far east, South Korea sees the launch of its first Android based handset, the LG KH5200 cellphone (also known as the Andro-1) that has a 3″ HVGA touchscreen with a 320 x 480 pixels resolution.  Other than that the LG KH5200 Andro-1 smart phone also sports the following features amongst its technical specifications: 3G capability, radio tuner, 2 MP camera, SNS functionality (Facebook, Twitter, etc), MP3 player and has a microSD/microSDHC slot that is capable of supporting up to 32 GB of expandable memory.

The LG KH5200 Andro-1 mobile phone may not perhaps be overly impressive but we believe its main attraction to be the fact that it will be the first Android based phone in South Korea.

Some might call this blatant proof that the Android mobile operating system is clearly becoming one of the most popular platforms. We are not so quick to judge and if you ask us the release of the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700, Vodafone 845 and the LG Andro-1 KH5200 is just an indication of companies diversifying their bases (so to speak) and also that Android being open source makes it really attractive to ODMs and cellphone manufacturers.
